For three teens going back to the past is the only way to save the future.
After years of recession a new political party is ascending to power. To control the United States they must offer leaders people will vote for. The Party has chosen a select group of teens to attend the Institute for Youth Development (IYD) for training to become the nation’s next leaders. But no one has a perfect past and in a world where every moment is captured on film it has become increasingly difficult to find future politicians. Everyone has something from their past they wish they could change.
Matt wants to go back and change the night he drove drunk and ended the life of his girlfriend and best friend; Farrah-Kate, the daughter of America’s most tragic actress, wants to save her movie star mother; and Rick is ordered to go back and change the night he hacked the governments computers.
Marvin Winn, a casino billionaire and Party founder has funded a device that will take the chosen back in time to alter their past. But not everyone is attending the Institute because they want to join The Party. And while everyone returns to their past, one person will choose not to come back, putting everything The Party seeks to achieve at risk.

I was surprised to find myself hooked into the story pretty quickly and enjoyed the read a great deal. I finished it off last night and today came looking for the next installment but was disappointed to find nothing available. So, looking forward to the next book. I do agree with one other reviewer that mentioned the need for a proof reader. There were numerous grammatical errors, but while they were a bit distracting at times they didn't diminish the overall enjoyment factor of the story. Hope the next one is available soon :)Product details

Ascent Ascent Series Book One eBook Amy Kinzer Reviews
This is an interesting book, if you can get past the consistent misuse of "I" and "me". Why couldn't the author use a grammar checking program? Why couldn't the author have the book proofread by a fourteen year old? I'm really sorry I spent an entire dollar on this book.
I really enjoyed this novel. I am not usually a fan of modern-day tales, but this one was absolutely worth reading. This novel really made me question myself. Would I be strong enough--brave enough--to go back in time and fix my mistakes if I could? It's something many people think about, and it's really nice to see this concept in a novel. I hope to see the release of the next book soon.
Off on a tangent. I guess I don't understand why some people say that they simply cannot continue a novel that has mistakes in it. To be quite frank, I am an aspiring author. I have read hundreds of books--maybe over a thousand, even. I can honestly say that I have found errors in every single novel I have ever read. If you are afraid of seeing mistakes in books, maybe you shouldn't read at all.
This was a good story that is not only entertaining for an adult, but I can see this one really taking off for the junior high / middle school crowd.
Without having a spoiler, I can tell you this the author does a good job of quickly grabbing your attention, and is able to get you to visualize the various scenes / scenarios of the characters and makes you want to see what happens next; unfortunately, I could see a set of scenarios happening that make the Party come into power (without the sci fi aspect of it). The ending was a little predictable but it was an entertaining read. I did find myself wanting a little more as the story ended - I hope a sequel comes out soon.
I originally picked this up for free during a promotion and, as I type this review, I see the version is now priced at just 99 cents I would say it is well worth the investment.
I really enjoyed this story a lot. It was an interesting concept, with the political party, etc. Right now I just have the kindle on my smartphone, so I'd read a chapter or two before bed. Some nights it was hard to stop reading. This book could easily be read in one day though. It is interesting and a quick read.
The story centers around 3 teenagers. You can read the book description, and I don't want to give any spoilers away. It held my attention from beginning to end. When I read the last paragraph I was surprised. I wanted more. I quickly got online to find out if book 2 was out yet. I actually got this as a free download, but was ready to buy the next one. I keep checking for it to come out.
Would I recommend this, yes, especially if you like sci fi, etc. I would also let my teenager and even my 10 year old advanced reader read this book. It is nice to have a great story line out there that is rated PG for a change. For .99 you can't go wrong with this book!
I got this book back in October when it was free and has been on my to be read list for a long time. I loved this book I was hooked from the start and glad I got it. I am always on the look out for Idie authors and great stories. I think you will be pleased if you like time travel there is a bit of it but more then anything I think this is a good YA book for someone the age of 16 and up. If you want more of a review from me check out kzbookblog.wordpress.com. Seriously though look at the cover come on!
This was a surprisingly interesting story that reminded me of the Lux 1.1 Seeds series and Into the Shadows (a young adult paranormal novel Into the Shadows Trilogy). It has time travel, political intrigue and a small hint of romance (hopefully to come in the next book) interwoven with manslaughter, suicide and computer hacking. I didn't know what I was getting into when I started reading this book, but I was soon involved in the past and future lives of Matt, Farrah and Rick.
Matt lives with the pain of killing his girlfriend and teammates in a car accident while driving drunk. He would do anything to go back in time to change what happened. Farrah's mom committed suicide when Farrah was 8 years old. She feels that she could say something or do something that might help her mother changed her mind and live, if she could just go back in time. Rick believes in government conspiracies and that the government is watching everyone and has secrets hidden in area 31. It is like area 51, only it has live space creatures and Big Foot. He has stolen his father's passwords and been able to hack into The Party's satellite connections and witnessed some of the secrets being held. He wants to join the party so he can be on the inside and know all the secrets first hand. Matt and Farrah want to join the party so they can use the time travel machine and fix the past.
All three are accepted into the Party's summer program and all three have their own agenda. Rick thinks he is smarter than the Party, Farrah starts to fall for Matt, Matt doesn't plan on coming back when he goes through the time wrinkle.
This was well written and a pleasant surprise in a free download. (SERIOUSLY, if grammar errors and misspelled words bother you to the point you can't enjoy the story, stay away from this one. I never take off stars for grammar as it does not seem fair to the story teller, just warning those that do). I will definitely be downloading the sequel when it comes out.
Would I/Did I buy it? Free Download
Would I listen/read it again? Yes, for review before the next one comes out
Would I recommend it to friends? Yes
